More Info

The photographs are accurate. At this 1930s ivy-clad manor in Langata, endangered Rothschild’s giraffes walk out of the morning mist, put their heads through the dining-room windows, and take pellets from the hand beside the toast. The image is singular, and the demand it generates is real; the Manor books out further ahead than almost any address on the continent.

Behind the image sits a serious story. The manor’s grounds adjoin the sanctuary of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, whose work since the 1970s helped pull the Rothschild’s subspecies back from the edge; the resident herd is that programme’s living legacy, and the adjacent Giraffe Centre carries the public education arm. The Safari Collection runs the house itself in country-house register: a small number of rooms split between the original manor and the newer wing, deep chintz-and-brass interiors that honour the period, and a communal, house-party rhythm built around breakfast and giraffe, garden tea, and dinner at the long tables.

The practical notes matter. Stays are short by design, one to two nights bracketing safari itineraries via nearby Wilson Airport; rates are all-inclusive and firmly ultra-luxury, and the booking horizon runs many months, occasionally years, for the marquee rooms. Children are welcomed; the giraffe do not distinguish. There is no platform inventory: the Manor sells direct through The Safari Collection and the trade.
