Property Details

Zannier Hotels Sonop is an all-inclusive tented camp on 13,800 private acres in Namibia's Hardap region, constructed on granite outcrops at the edge of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. The property operates ten suites with a structured programme of guided excursions, gala dining, and wellness. It suits couples and leisure travellers seeking genuine remoteness over proximity to towns or tourist circuits.
More Info

Sonop sits at the southern edge of the NamibRand Nature Reserve one of the largest private conservation areas in southern Africa where the Hardap region gives way to granite outcrops, open plains, and sand formations that make no concession to human scale. The camp is reached either by overland transfer from Windhoek (approximately five hours by road) or by charter flight to the property’s private airstrip, roughly one hour and twenty minutes from Hosea Kutako International Airport. There is no dropping in casually. The journey is part of the contract.

The camp runs ten tented suites, built directly onto boulder formations in a register that references early twentieth-century British expedition camps without apology. This is a contained destination: dining, excursions, and evening programming happen on-site, structured around light, heat, and the rhythms of the desert rather than guest preference alone.

The fit is specific. Couples, slow-travel leisure guests, and photographers find the pacing most compatible. Families are accommodated in two-bedroom configurations, though the environment remains quiet and programme-led. Children under six are not accepted.

Rates are all-inclusive meals, most beverages, guided drives, and core activities which changes the value calculation meaningfully. Peak pricing aligns with Namibia’s dry season, roughly April through September, when temperatures are tolerable and outdoor dining and stargazing are reliable. Summer months bring heat and reduced activity windows, but also fewer guests and marginally lower rates for those who can manage the conditions.

Bookings at ten tents fill quickly. Advance planning is not a formality it is a prerequisite.
