Malawi; a country of diverse wildlife lakes and beautiful people. The official languages of Malawi are Chichewa and English, but many other languages such as Yao and Tonga are spoken. As a visitor to this vibrant country, there are many sights and scenes that you can experience once in Malawi.

Lake Malawi is remarkably beautiful and is lined with sandy beaches which are perfect for sunbathing. There is an opportunity to do some fishing as well as to ride across the lake in a ferry boat. In terms of accomodation around Lake Malawi there are plenty of options such as Pumulani Lodge.

Pumulani lodge is a luxury beach lodge situated on the southern end of Lake Malawi. This luxury resort has beautiful villas that offer comfort and privacy. It is also a great stay as they provide access to activities such as waterskiing, sailing, walks and hiking, snorkeling and diving.

Liwonde National Park

Africa Destinations that should be on Everybody’s Bucket List

Liwonde National Park can be found in southern Malawi and was established in 1973. Here you can see buffalo, hippos and elephants. For the avid bird watcher a visit to this park is a must. The white-backed vultures, lapper-faced vultures as well as the ground hornbills can be found here. Amazingly the rare brown-breasted barbet and Spur-winged Lap-wing can also be spotted in these parts.

The Lizulu market

Malawi

Back in the capital city of Malawi, Lilongwe, there are just as many places to see. The Lizulu market is a busy roadside market. It is a fun place to go and people watch as well as to get fresh produce at a good price. At the market you will get to experience the vibe and feel of the daily life of the locals. The Craft market has plenty of arts and crafts as well as a range of beautiful art carvings made by the locals. This is a great place to shop for souvenirs and gifts.

MADSOC Theatre

If you would like to enjoy some poetry, dance and storytelling performances make sure to book your seat at the MADSOC theater. This theater was established in 1961 and hosts performances by different art companies in it’s 150 seat theater.
