Ghana is a West African country renowned for its warm hospitality, friendly people, and a rich history intertwined in the stories of the Trans Atlantic Slave trade and different cultural backgrounds.

Ghana has various local languages such as Ewe and Twi, with English as the official language.  Ghana is an ideal destination for travelers of all kinds, whether you are a first-time visitor to Africa looking for an ideal introduction to the continent, or a seasoned traveler in search of a refreshing alternative and new unique experiences, Ghana has a lot to offer.

Volta Lake And The Greenwich Meridian Rock

Oxford Street

A popular street in the capital city of Accra, a roadside tourist market during the day, and a crazy party hub at night filled with bars, pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, shops, malls, casinos, and hotels. Oxford street is a fun place to be for a taste of typical Ghanaian nightlife.

Osu Night market

As the name suggests, is this is a Ghanaian street food market that operates at night not too far from Oxford Street. Thus to get the whole street food and night experience, be sure to visit the Osu Night Market and try out an array of local Ghanaian cuisines.

The Art Centre

The Art Centre is a busy tourist market located in Accra; Ghana’s capital. The place is always packed with visitors and artifacts vendors. The art center offers a variety of African cultural items ranging from; bespoke African attires, traditional footwear, Kenya and Fugu, carvings, paintings to drums, making it a great place to shop for souvenirs. What is travel without memories? Get that souvenir and travel back in time once in a while.

Mole National Park

Located in the northern part of the country, Mole is Ghana’s largest wildlife refuge established in 1958. Elephants, Buffalos, Antelopes, Warthogs, the Black/White Colobus Monkey, and other endangered species have been rescued and rehabilitated and visitors get the privilege to learn about these unique animals when on a safari.  For nature lovers visiting Ghana Mole should be on the bucket list for places to visit. Mole National Park also offers accommodation options inside the park, one of which is the Zaina Lodge.

The lodge has a shop for souvenirs too.

The Volta Lake

This is the world’s largest man-made lake in surface area. The Volta Lake lies beautifully between Volta and the Eastern regions of Ghana. The shoreline of the Volta lake is home to luxury resorts that offer boat rental services from upriver to the Akosombo Dam, the hub of Ghana’s electricity.

The Volta Lake also offers ferry services where the Dodi Princess ferry transports people to Dodi Island, another tourist destination offering beautiful sights of unending green land.

The Greenwich Meridian Rock

A rock that lies on the line marking right at the center of the Greenwich Meridian making it the center of the world. A great tourist destination associated with sprituality.  This rock was visible until the extension of the Tema Port some few years ago but an area has been demarcated not too far from the rock’s location but on the same Greenwich Meridian for visitors who want to experience standing at the center of the world.

Jamestown

To Wrap Up your visit, you may wan to have a bird’s eye view of Ghana. then Jamestown , also known as British Accra is the prefect location for this perfect view.

British Accra a highly populated fishing community within the capital city of Accra has the Jamestown Lighthouse, Ussur Fort Museum, and James Fort

While at it,  make a stop at the Jamestown Cafe, a live artist performance bar and dance your soul light.
