What do you do while a vacation to a tropical island with jaw-dropping views? Swimming, relaxing, sunbathing, boat cruise, scuba diving and even strolling on the beach under the full moon-lit will be such a magical experience and of course, taking some amazing photos will be straight out of the Travel Magazines, that is what the Islands of Cape Verde, with its mixture of European and African cultures, has to offer tourists and holidaymakers visiting the Island.

Then a visit to Sal is a must, this island is best described as a beach lover’s paradise and it’s also popular among holidaymakers due to its golden sandy beaches sinking into azure waters. Sal is considered as the window into Cape Verde’s history with some spectacular natural phenomena to admire.

So as a visitor, you can hop aboard a luxurious boat known as “Lounge Catamaran”, a 90 capacity cruise boat but limited to 60 for free movement which offers a half-a-day tropical cruise.

The cruise starts from the western coast of Port of Sal, giving you a clear view of the rocky and white-sand beaches including the long, half-moon shore at Santa Maria and the Terra Boa mirage that appears as a lake in the desert landscape. You can also fish on board with the crew while a delicious snack is prepared with unlimited drinks throughout your trip.

Thinking of where to sleep while on this island, take a trip to Santa Maria, located on the southern tip of Sal Island. This Island has long, wide beaches backed by resorts within a 20-minute walk and it’s dotted with pastel-colored buildings, restaurants, live-music bars, and the old harbor’s Weigh House which has all the salt-trading history of Sal.

The island’s clear waters and sandy beaches are home to rays and 3 species of sea turtles making it a haven for turtle watchers and nature lovers.

There are organized hiking tours for visitors to witness these wonders of nature either laying eggs and to help cover up exposed eggs. If you’re lucky to spot one, just take a seat in silence on the sand, admire it, and don’t forget to take some photos.

The spectacular natural phenomena at the shore of this island create a contrast between the white natural season and the dark-colored volcanic rocks entering the sea creating a combination of beautiful waves suitable for surfing and scuba diving.

But for those that want to swim, the crystal clear natural swimming pool and coral-filled water is an ideal spot for a therapeutic bath which is uplifting and a good way to destress and the incredible rocky landscape creates a beautiful combination of natural occurrence in the ocean and one of such is a crater known as the  “Blue Eye”, a natural occurrence which happens when the sun shines inside a 25-meter deep volcanic crater cave of crystal clear water, allowing you to take a glimpse at what seems like a shiny blue eye staring at the majestic sky.

Sāo Vicente

The cultural hub of the island is São Vicente. This island is located on the northern port of Mindelo and is known for its vibrant musical and cultural scenes. As a visitor looking for an idyllic venue to experience live performances of the Cape Verdean Morna, then, visit the new Floating Music Hub.

An architecture designed by Kunlé Adeyemi consists of three separate but linked timber pavilions, a recording studio, a bar, and a multi-use performance space for African music, dance, and art but while the sun goes down, shake a leg, step in the crystal clear water, sip on your favorite drink and do join the parties of an awakened African infused vibes.
