About the Jack’s Camp property

Hemmed in by the immaculate landscapes of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, home of one of the world’s largest super lakes, Jack’s Camp is a traditional East African 1940’s safari style camp, evocative of a by-gone era.

Green roomy canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms indoor and outdoor showers, Persian rugs, cotton sheets.

Having one of the most far-reaching collected works of ancient artefacts in Botswana, you can pay a quick visit to the remote archaeological sites of fossil beds of zebra and hippo skilfully curated.

This setting is home to the year-round desert wildlife: brown hyena, oryx, Kalahari lion and, after dark, aardvark, porcupine, honey badger and bat eared fox.

Keep your eyes peeled!

Accommodation Description

Embellished with the stylish East African safari feel, the nine guest rooms, 7 twin tents featuring two queen-size beds and 2 double tents with extra-length king beds, have near doubled in size.

Even as the green canvas and muslin-draped walls remain, each tent is adorned with Persian and North African rugs, paraffin lamps, brass fittings, luxuriant textiles and mahogany campaign furniture.

The comfortable living area, with a sofa and day bed invite you to the open views of the Kalahari.

Scenery

It’s a landscape of space and remoteness, and the spectacular, otherworldly vistas, unique desert wildlife, and old-world glamour of Jack’s Camp all come together to create an experience that is unlike any other on the continent.

During the dry season, whiteness swathes the arid landscape in a glisten.

When the rains start to fall, the Makgadikgadi Pans are transformed.

The salt flats are turned into watery grasslands as a layer of emerald-green grass stretches out in every direction, pink clouds of flamingo and flocks of migratory birds arrive to nest, and Africa’s second largest mammal migration of wildebeest and our black and white striped friends floods the plains.

Weather

The dry season starts in 1st April to 31st October.

The rainy season begins at around1st of November to 31st March).

Getting Here

Jack’s Camp is a 50-minute flight by light aircraft from Maun, followed by a four-wheel drive transfer to camp of just about 15 minutes.

On the other hand it’s about a four hours’ drive from Maun to the camp.
